| They want to get it to the point where everyone starts by searching for their favorite site on Google. People who type in the site to the URL bar instead of searching for it give less data to Google (although NOT nothing-- Chrome is always phoning home telling them what you do)... and give Google no opportunity to display advertisements or other content.
This is the same motivation they had for making the URL bar double as a google search box. If you're old enough, you can remember when it did not work that way. #duckduckgo |
