Money is a tool, like a bubble level, useful for sharing limited resources fairly. If you have enough money to meet your needs, you shouldn't want any more. If you don't have enough money to meet your needs, it's either because there aren't enough resources to go around, or more realistically because someone else took too much. Authors deserve enough money to live a comfortable life because they're human beings. Nothing is gained by placing artificial limits on who can read their books.
I've never worked a day in my life and I'm doing fine. Quentin Beck is a multi-millionaire! Or at least he was, I haven't talked to him lately. Whatever the money bunnies out there thought their whole big system of rewards and punishments was supposed to accomplish, it's obviously not working. Everyone should just read what they want and let God sort it out. |
