Once the applause and cheers had subsided, Channel 12 cut back to the Noon News anchor team. The male anchor, somewhat stunned, said, "Let me get this straight. The Governor General just participated in doing a cover of a Led Zeppelin song?"
The other anchor, a woman, was much more enthusiastic. "Yeah! You go girl! She didn't just help sing a cover, she owned that song. In just seven words, she took possession of it. The song opens about a woman who thinks everything that glitters is gold, and she's wearing a gold dress and glittering gold shoes! And when he said 'a lady we all know' she steps out, and the line after it, someone in a white light, and she has a spotlight on her. Then she admi's she's the lady of the song when she says she bought this staircase. All this over a mere remodeling. Normally there'd be a bunch of boring speeches, nobody would have noticed. This was just over the top, in grand scale. I tell you, her husband would never have been this flamboyant. I'm glad he picked someone like her as his replacement as Governor. Let me tell you, I think things here in Vicron are going to be a lot more fun.
"Anyway, back to the news. More riots and deaths in Hong Kong as rebel forces have taken over Government House, despite strong measures by Chinese Premier..." |
