He's right to be cranky about some stuff in an aggregate. I got 18 months out of the ipad that I bought before it stopped being able to run new apps. 18 months! Less than the time it takes to make two twins in utero.
Yeah Dvorak was one of those guys never invited to Apple events. I'm not sure why he ended up on Steve Jobs' list, probably for something he did while editor of an Apple magazine back in the early days. Jobs like some bitter old woman with his handwritten shitlists and his goddamn turtlenecks.
Anyway, if there were Hookers at Microsoft, Bill Gates would have known about it. The entire time Gates was at Microsoft, if you were to try and phone in to the switchboard at 3 AM, and then patiently let it ring, you were guaranteed to get Gates, sitting in his office. He always worked late at night, and would always eventually answer the phone. Steve Gibson revealed this years later on his podcast. Gates would always happily answer answer technical questions (and buzz in the hookers).
In a way I am envious of him, he got to work the hours he wanted because he was obviously single, the work he was doing was going to get him gobs of money and he got to work on exactly what he wanted. We should all be so lucky. It's kind of less of a scandal to pay for sexual services when you're single. I mean sure there is sex trafficking in the world and that is bad.
Jobs was so petty which amazing because what I read, people bent over backwards for him before he was anybody. Bushnell, ignoring complaints because he wouldn't shower, let him go to India for some dumb journey of self discovery and had a job waiting for him when he returned. Which I imagine you read as well but still. If I told my boss I had to go to India for six months he'd have my job posted on monster.com before I could decide what flute to bring. |
