The recently cancelled NBC sitcom “A.P. Bio” is getting a second life with NBCUniversal reviving the comedy for its upcoming and still unnamed ad-supported streaming service launching next year.
The show revolves around a disgraced Harvard philosophy scholar (Glenn Howerton) forced to return to Toledo, Ohio, and work as an Advanced Placement biology teacher at the local high school. Patton Oswalt, Lyric Lewis, Mary Sohn, Jean Villepique and Paula Pell also starred.
The series ran for two seasons and performed well on streaming platforms says the network. In fact, it was second only to “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in terms of scoring big numbers from non-linear sources.
Executive producer Mike O’Brien says in a statement: “I’m so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the fans. The cast and I are thrilled that we get to make more and I’m excited to work with the NBCU streaming platform. This happened because of all you guys! We’re extremely thankful.”
