There was a headline that kept popping up from Kotaku or Polygon, I can't remember which and each are equally loathsome, where the title went oh GAWD I wish Trover was funnier! Bloo hoo hoo!
Well, of course. That is all those piece of shit sites have left. Trying to awkwardly pronounce things as unfunny. Only they are trying to do it to something that was worked on by a guy that invented pointing out unfunny things on the Internet.
I laughed out loud a couple times while playing it, and this never happens to me any more playing games. I mean, you should know what you're in for by this point if you have seen Rick and Morty or watched the trailers. It's a bunch of unhappy and visibly angry people treating each other with contempt and yelling at each other. It's great. This is the first game in however long that actually lived up to my expectations going in.
The game itself is also good so far! I haven't played a 3D adventure game in a long time, if someone reading this has then I can understand how this game's pool of actions or grammar could underwhelm. But the writing for most adventure games is so terrible I haven't bothered, so it's refreshing. You move around like the PS2 game Maximo, sort of, though there's a bit of Sentinel in how it all shakes out, too.
But yeah, it's funny provided you already find this kind of comedy funny. It presents the player with a problem ("go get your missing dogs back") and the world is wacky but not trying too hard. I'm liking it a lot.
