Drive is at least the third movie I've seen with that title, and the first one I really liked. It's an existential horror film from 1991 about being stuck in a car for 90 minutes, twice a day, every weekday, with someone you hate, who is also the only person who can stand you. The two someones in this case are David Warner - voice of Jon Irenicus - and a young man playing a Bruce McCulloch character. The film observes them on a single commute to their computer jobs, with the tantalizing prospect that it may be their last, and the suffocating likelihood that it won't. Boredom and monologuing ensue. In black and white. |
