| There is something I don't quite understand, and how it is that people who otherwise publicly show their smarts and/or brilliance, but then you look at some of their other ideas and you wonder why they made no effort to examine other opinions of theirs and correct them as well.
I have given examples of this here, one being my take on Dr. Jordan B. Peterson who has done some amazing work in examining how some people have really badly formed ideas. There is a clip of him being interviewed by a reporter from the BBC who disagreed with his opinions on women and women's equality in the workplace, and he not only decimated her arguments, he proceeded to (metaphorically) use her to mop and wax the floor. She never knew what hit her. Yet Peterson is a very religious person and holds a number of obvious errors. A video of him has him, as a believer in God, to claim to know exactly what Atheists believe. Which he gets wrong, of course. I get disappointed when I see really bright people like Peterson proceed to fuck up badly by what are often obviously expressing erroneous points because they have failed to use their intellect to examine their own ideas. Have you noticed this in other people you find interesting and what's your take on it? |
