Yeah he probably meant education but instead he said IQ, which is basically a racially charged term at this point. So, tough shit. Don't get me wrong I don't think people should be fired over this kind of shit but communally everyone wants a society where people are fired over this kind of shit so that's the one we have.
Remember that Kevin Trudeau clip where he talked about quantum computing? He really didn't know anything about quantum computers and that was just a out of context viral clip of him regurgitating something he just learned, and a number of people pointed that out. However those same people are now taking a different out of context from a town hall where he says someone should use 'peoplekind' instead of 'mankind' and roasting him for it. Even though no one at the townhall was bothered and he went on to answer the ladies question, albeit it breaking it with a sort of dumb one liner.
No one actually cares about the truth of the situation, they didn't like the quantum computing thing because it made him look good and they like the peoplekind thing because it makes him look bad. In the same way people are only defending this guy because they lean toward anti-immigration and the majority of them would be in full favor of someone getting shitcanned for defending immigration.
The thing is the core issues are just ignored. Whether out of context viral content is good or bad gets ignored in favor of liking viral things we agree with and disliking viral things we don't agree with. In the same way it should be an issue that jobs are too fucking important to be fired for anything but being shitty at it or disrupting your workplace excessively not an issue of exactly what twitter opinions we SHOULD fire people over. |
