| CON: You can't rebind your controls. WHO RELEASES A GAME ON THE PC IN THIS DAY AND AGE WITHOUT THIS?
CON: Having a mic is a huge boon to being a counselor since there's no text chat, so the only way to tell people if you have / found certain key items for escaping is via talk. Controllers have no push-to-talk button, which is retarded. You can switch back and forth between using the keyboard/mouse and controller, but if you're actively pushing a button or using the control stick on the controller it overrides the keyboard input, so you can't move and talk at the same time if you're using a controller. Which is retarded. CON: Jason is a bit overpowered. If you're in any way hobbled, it's basically guaranteed death because even though you can move faster than Jason he can teleport on a short cooldown. I imagine this might be mitigated quite a bit if people really work together, but hahahahahahah. Unless your Jason is a new player or an idiot you'll probably all die. CON: Different counselors have different stats, but I'm skeptical how much of an effect it really has. It seems like the only two valuable ones are speed and stealth. Repair is fucking useless, because you'll never repair anything while being pursued by Jason and when you're not you'll have plenty of time to try and repair something so who cares about having a higher repair stat. That being said, it speaks to how good the core game is that it's still pretty fun. Hopefully it survives long enough to get good, ongoing support and new content. PROTIPS IF YOU PLAN TO TRY IT: - Before you start, go into the counselor customization and roll a perk. Don't forget to roll and assign perks as you gain XP. You can get really useful stuff, like starting with a walkie-talkie. Perks can be used by all of your counselors at the same time. - Jason can only walk through doors, so lock all of them and use windows - Loot icons don't appear on drawers and cupboards from across the room, so make sure you actually approach them. - Shut the fuck up. Of course there's dipshits who talk to hear themselves talk, but whoever is playing Jason can hear you too so maybe don't draw attention to yourself or, more importantly, me. - If you're hiding in a cabin, it glows bright red for Jason later into the match. If Jason is nearby, hasn't seen you, and you're trying to avoid him, diving into a cabin is the worst thing you can do. He also gets little sonar icons from across the map that appear when you run / move quickly. He also gets predator vision when you're nearby. See what I mean about being overpowered? If he's chasing you, best thing you can do is run straight towards someone else and then crouch/stealth when you get by them and hope Jason kills the other person and loses you. - Yeah, I'll get you killed. Fuck you. |
