That's been a pet peeve of mine, all these games that default to a much lower-than-intended difficulty.
Someone told me videogame market research shows that shitty players tend to pick the hardest difficulty, get their asses kicked, then post negative reviews about how the difficulty is bullshit. Terrified developers tilt their game toward super easy and hide the real game in the New Game+ mode so it doesn't ruin their game's reputation.
Thea: the Awakening has (in my mind) a crucial difficulty dial that isn't turned on for even the Godlike difficulty and is only accessible in custom difficulty, but without that dial turned on the game is an absolute cakewalk. (the Realism setting) |
