If you were toying with buying No Man's Sky now that it's discounted and all the gaming sites are running "has the foundation update redeemed No Man's Sky?" articles I am here to tell you unequivocally, NO.

I made sure to install the latest Nvidia drivers before reinstalling the game and it still runs like stuttery shit. Maybe even worse than before? One second you're getting 60fps, then you turn your head too quickly and the framerate drops into the teens. I even tried the texture streaming option that you can only access by manually editing the settings file and I still had shit performance, only now the fan on my video card started running faster and louder than I'd ever heard it run before. I don't think they'll ever fix it so they've sought to mitigate the problem Shadow-of-the-Colossus-style by adding motion blur.

I boarded a freighter and found that it had a way more detailed interior than the space stations, but unless you're playing the unlimited money cheat mode, or are willing to invest the hours of grind necessary to gather the tens of millions of dollars necessary to buy one and access the interior decorating minigame, you'll find they're just as forgettably identical as the space stations.

They said they adjusted the planet generating parameters, and while my first planet was the same kind of green toxic shithole I remember from before, my second planet was an ocean planet dotted by tropical islands that looked pretty cool from cruising altitude, but once I landed the grass looked awful and it was just populated by the same old tyrannosaurus-headed rats hopping in aimless circles as everywhere else. Slightly better planets, still meh.

So save your money!
