I thought this was very interesting, and worth watching. It's slightly over 44 minutes. It shows how, as the technology improved, computer games, both in the coin-op versions and the eventual home consoles (and even PC games) the graphics improved, sometimes through cheap cheats (like using a color overlay) and sometimes through special functionality - like dedicated hardware specifically to do some of the graphics - and in this video you see how the graphics changed as they became able to do better graphics.
