| So Amazon decided to resurrect The Tick for the 3rd time, the pilot was released last week. It was.....OK. Not great, not terrible. It wasn't crazy funny or anything, but the scenes with the Tick were at least the strongest.
I don't recognize the guy playing Arthur (Griffin Newman), but so far he seems to be a really good choice. I also don't really recognize Peter Serafinowicz who plays the Tick, and while he looks like someone's dad in a fancy costume, the upside is that his voice is a dead ringer for the cartoon Tick, which was perfect for the material. He also seems to be a good choice so far. The first villain introduced was The Terror, but I'm curious to see how/if they're going to handle someone like Chairface Chippendale. They already had a big CG ship in this one, so fancy CG isn't out of the question. Amazon seems to be giving this a pretty big budget, and the original creator is the behind this series as well and wrote the pilot. This first episode was really just an origin story for Arthur and kind of establishing everything, and pilots are always a little weak, but the show looks like it could have good potential. |
