| It really is a stunning lack of vision and management on their part as to why they are so shitty. Tulo for Castro and Hoffman was a GREAT trade, especially since Tulo looks finished at the plate now. Story and Nolan are stars, DJ is fine at second .... but how the fuck are they running Reynolds out at first base? THAT'S the plan? 1B for the Colorado Rockies is the #1 primo gig in the majors in my opinion. You should be able to go to any free agent in the game and say, "come play first for us." Instead they are screwing around with 32-year old noted blind baseball player Mark Reynolds, and Ben Paulsen, who has a nasty case of the splits.
John Jaso would be Albert Pujols at Coors and he signed a two-year deal for 4 mill each from the Pirates. He really didn't want to come to Coors? Or the Rockies' management went DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and didn't bother or couldn't come up with 4 million a year for him? At a system-wide level they haven't figured out pitching. Maybe they have some home and road starters. Maybe they don't worry about what guys do at home. Looking for ground ball pitchers, the best athletes they can find in CF and LF to go with CarGo and make the bench filled with pinch hitters that want to hit in a park with no atmosphere. Winning there isn't easy, but it's interesting and ownership + management has been a lot worse than it should be. Oh, they also apparently couldn't get Anthopoulos, which is stunning, but that's what the Rockies do I guess. ICJ |
