So I looked up sales. 3DS sold 58 million in 4 years, vs. PSP's 80 million in 10. So more like 72% of sales. And how is almost 60 million a flop? You are the WORST analyst. I've seen kids playing 3DS when I travel. I leave Street Pass on in the airport, and never leave without it flagging a bunch of hits.

I can't remember the last time I saw a kid with a DS. Just tablets. Six years ago they were like pre-settler herds of buffalo.

You actually own a Wii U so perhaps there's an alternate reality barrier we're communicating across?

Possibly this will be the last generation of consoles as we know it?

Nope.

Most likely not. Maybe a shift within the next 2 generations? This seemed like the first console generation where nobody was excited for improved graphics and there weren't any new features over the last generation besides the promise of a home entertainment nerve center or whatever the fuck.

The advantage dedicated consoles have is that they're simple. You plug them in, create a user account, and then you can pop a game in and go.

...updating....updating...

I don't believe the average person gives a shit about old games, unless they're rereleased in an HD remake or they're old and looking for a nostalgia kick.

I'm not talking ancient 8 year old games that need HD remakes to even run on modern hardware. You only need to wait 3 months or less to get 50% off PC games these days. Wait 6-12 months and now it's 75-90%. Hell, with the state of new releases today you're better off waiting anyway until the super director's master edition comes out at a discount. The only time that waiting period is a problem is quick burnout multiplayer games like Titanfall (possibly Dark Souls where everyone turns into a catasser after 2 months).

With consoles you're waiting 2 years for a greatest hits $30 edition.

On the other hand, you can buy a PC and have a high probability of not being able to play newer releases if you didn't pay attention to the specs. Most people won't, because they don't care.

"What do you mean this PC won't play GTA 6? I just bought it last week!"
"Sorry, sir, your computer has on-board graphics only and an i3 Celeron. You need at least an Nvidia Gefore 1020 with 4GB of video RAM and an i7 workstation class..."
*eyes roll back, blood leaks from nose, collapses to the floor"

I remember when getting a desktop under $1000 meant you couldn't even run most new games. Now $700 let's you play almost anything short of the latest id tech demo on ultra highest settings and why would you play an id game?

The affordability gap between gaming PCs and consoles keeps shrinking.

Valve standardizes a single Steam Machine that's as plug and play as a home console. I don't see any of those things ever happening.

They got Steam to work after an early clusterfuck period. Who knows.
