| -Cyberware still has a lot of dull +1 int/limited spell analogs for a huge chunk of cash, but there were some cool looking ones like the auto-grenade counter (with 100% proc rate) and the arm that autoreloads your weapons when they run out. The cyberweapons are kinda boring for what you invest versus just going for regular unarmed or melee, though the monofilament whip might've gotten more design love. Also, I didn't know that spurs and claws don't work with adept abilities :(
-Etiquette is still a strange system since some perks are consistently helpful, while others are totally useless. You're best off with 6-8 in charisma for the skillcheck rather than any specific etiquette. -The combat FEELS a lot easier, but it may have been a result of your team being way the jacked up over the other games. Your hacker is a pistol master with a grenade launcher and your shaman can drop down 4 tiles of bespoke heavy cover on a short cooldown. I used one revive kit the whole game playing on normal. It felt like there were fewer Dragonfall moments where you just had to climb over dead bodies and more role playing bits, which I suspect is to balance out the time and effort you might put into hacking (which is ALWAYS useful and usually lets you skip a lot of fights). -I mostly enjoyed the new matrix and hacking, but holy shit does it wear you down to have to complete 6 rounds of simon and then a match game EVERY SINGLE TIME you want to open a door (force it open for a raised alert or find a password somewhere). It's better than the old system of a blue version of regular combat, but I still maintain they should have gone full Sega matrix. -This is one of maybe five games that consistently made me laugh and smile from how well some of it was written. Some of the long long long merchant dialogues just aren't that interesting, but the good ones are gold. |
