My friend did come through for me, and my post was the product of massive fear and lack of sleep. Also, I was remembering how a) nerds have a strong tendency toward evil (aspergers) and b) my particular friend has shown signs of this as well. Not that he has aspergers, but maybe the *shrug* well you shoulda derp disorder. Like, I could easily imagine this thought process: "well if a BANK won't loan you money *I* won't loan you money!" And in fact he now ends all conversations witn me with, "I trust you, Joe." Uh, yes. Thanks again.
And in fact I coulda applied at Target, and why didn't I? Because the exortation to do everything in your power to save your shipsituation while you still can is, I dunno, really hard in practice. Or I'm super lazy? Delusional probably. I was relentlessly optimistic that, say, being one of the top three candidates for two positions meant I'd be getting an offer. Oops! Math! Or that surely after 8 or so interviews something would come my way. I got feedback from one, when I asked my recruiter why I was passed over for something I was way qualified for, and they said they were told, "you seemed nervous." What? NT by laudablepuss
