settings? If the answer to those is "no," then the GTX 960 is fine. And you can get big performance boosts in most modern games by turning down the fucking shadows. Those always crush performance.
Upgrading your CPU / RAM isn't going to put much of a dent in performance anymore, since most games are bottlenecked by the graphics card. I upgraded mine recently to the latest Intels because mine were even older than yours, and there was all kinds of nerd disappointment from enthusiasts because the latest processors didn't have very meaningful performance increases in gaming from overclocked processors from even 4-5 years ago.
If it's smooth framerate you're after, get a GTX 960 and then save up for a monitor that supports G-SYNC down the road. That's going to have the biggest visual impact on smoothness. |
