I didn't follow the Kickstarter campaign at all. My understanding is that Sandi Gardiner ran the campaign. I have no idea why she is being brought into any of this. She constructed a campaign that netted, what, $90 million dollars. The salaries of the guys that actually played in last Sunday's game for the New Orleans Saints amounted to $74 million. She out-competed a professional football team.
Sure, the rest of it looks like a clownboat - a boat of clowns, if you will - but she did her job. There is no way Wing Commander is the most popular franchise of all-time and this just ran itself. The crowdfunding for this is the work of a genius.
If she ran the crowdfunding campaign that started this Ponzi scheme, then she deserves her share of the spoils. That being said I still hold that holding onto someone, even someone incredibly competent, who has been brought to HR dozens of times may not be in your organization's best interest if the boss can't give them a stern reprimand since she's also in charge of the boss's blowjobs. Roberts refused to even verify Gardiner was his wife until Smart forced him to; some part of him knew that it would look bad to his backers.
Roberts is too arrogant to allow anyone else to steer this Hindenberg or keep his employees, especially those he's related to, in line; it's ultimately more damning to Roberts than to her though. And holy fuck, it just passed 90 million dollars. That's over $90/backer and $15 million dollars in the last 6 months. Broussard's overpromised game was released a bit too early or he could have jumped on this neverending free money. |
