I put 109 hours into on 2 characters, bought it on day 1, don't feel ripped off. DS1 is the better game, though. The combat and stat system in DS2 is a little more refined but the world and bosses in DS1 are way better. Looking back at the older thread, I think the consensus was that DS2 felt a bit half-baked. Given they did a re-release where they tweaked the enemies and level design, I guess that was more or less accurate. I didn't buy the re-release, so I have no idea how much it improved things. I will say that the frozen world that was the last of the 3 DLCs is one of the best Demon/Dark Souls levels of all time. Probably my personal favorite.

I guess if you look at DS2 as a really big expansion pack to DS1 that is a decent game in its own right but not up to DS1 (with some exceptions), then it's worth $25. If you're looking for a huge improvement over 1 or don't care about it if it's not, then skip it.
