| I borrow Birdman from a tech junkie acquaintance and OF COURSE it's on Blu Ray. My laptop came with a Blue Ray drive, so no problem then.
Load in the disc. 2 minutes of fucking around and loading the default Blu Ray viewer program. Informs me it needs to download an update. Opens up the site. Download update. Install. 2 more minutes of loading the viewer. Informs me I need another update. Download. Install. 2 more minutes. Movie starts. Stops, tells me my Blu Ray player needs an update then just hangs there with no prompt to download anything. Finally just torrent the damn thing. Am I paranoid in thinking that Blu Ray was nothing but one big scam by the industry? Increase the size of movie files to try and keep them on a physical medium for greater control over distribution. Screw over consumers with this FUCKSHIT endless firmware horseshit. Or is the movie industry just following the example of video games after being surpassed in profit? Gone are the plug n play days of just watching a fucking movie you goddamn own and your shitlicking Playstation now dictates everything regarding when you're allowed to use your media with always online DRM because someone just hacked their servers A-FUCKING-GAIN and it's time for 50 more firmware updates. cunts (what the fuck? I watched a Blu Ray movie just fine on this computer 6 months ago. IS THE MEDIUM CHANGING THAT GODDAMN MUCH?) |
