and fuck my post by fabio 02/10/2015, 2:35am PST Each escort mission constantly warps in enemy reinforcements every turn. Sometimes behind you, sometimes right on top of you. The first time it happens, it's nearly an impossible mission and I had to turn down the difficulty to ensign. The 2nd time it happens, the reinforcements include carriers which launch reinforcements themselves every turn. It's also the point where the enemy gets their own support mechs which love to cast -50% energy on you and the transport you're escorting, cutting its movement from 2 hexes down to 1 and doubling the time you're being ass raped by half a dozen each of cruisers, battleships, assault carriers, bombers, support mechs, and elite mechs. Halfway through, I thought, "fuck this" and turned the difficulty all the way down to "visual novel mode" which says battles become a formality so you can just enjoy the story. Damage to you is cut to 25% while your damage is quadrupled. My flagship was still taking 1200 damage a turn and every ship was cut to half energy. The enemy reinforcements got so ridiculous that a literal wall of them 3 hexes deep appeared in front of the transport. Even if my ships took no damage, I was blocked from moving forward and couldn't kill them faster than they kept spawning in. So fuck it. Feel no shame for setting every escort mission to the lowest difficulty. I don't think the 2nd one is possible to beat even if you fire the flagship's super gun every turn. It's so bad, even the game realizes how much they suck.
