| You couldn't call Civ a simple game, but you could say the mechanics were pretty straight forward and everything built off of easy to understand concepts.
Civ 5 said, "15 years of refinements? FUCK THAT NOISE LOL EMPIRE DELUXE!" but at least Civ 5 was still grounded in real world units and techs you could sort of relate to. Beyond Earth is all the dumbfuck gamey shit of Civ 5 meets the esoteric sci-i shit of Alpha Centauri. If a 20 year Civ veteran can't even find out how to quickly tell which tiles are being worked, you have massively fucked up your Civ sequel. |
