Reminds me of this documentary "Inside Deep Throat"by Mischief Maker 12/31/2014, 4:06pm PST
To whit: Nixon decided to gain political points by clamping down on porn, and picked Deep Throat out of a hat as the exemplar of all that is awful in pornography. A massive backlash results and suddenly people of all walks descended onto porn theaters and watched it as an act of defiance. Then the mob took over distribution of the film and made obscene amounts of cash.
I can't help but think the popular Left bit a poison apple when it got Glen Beck kicked off the airwaves. On one hand, he was just another shock jock who traded in his fart button for a chalkboard. On the other hand, the sonofabitch hit you in your home. Every white kid wants to believe their grandparents aren't racist, but it's impossible to ignore when you visit for Christmas and after a lovely meal grandpa starts telling you with a straight face some Beck conspiracy theory about how Obama and the Nation of Islam were colluding to start an armed revolution against whitey.
But now the popular Left has struck a devil's bargain with corporate america and it's only going to hurt us in the long run because political will that could have been used for constructive purposes on important issues is instead wasted on getting insincere apologies from the entertainment industry. Shit, it's providing an excuse to call conservatism "rebellious."
