A "Hog Dog Rodeo" is a wild pig with it's tusks cut off, in a cage with a pitbull. The pitbull that gets the fastest kill time wins. You'd think it would be easy to ban... http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/mld/ledgerenquirer/news/local/11296078.htm
"It looks like something that would happen in a Third World country," said state Rep. Cam Ward, R-Alabaster. "It's not. It's Alabama."
Haha yeah, third world stuff CAN'T happen in Alabama...
...but what about the rights of hunters?
Tonight Hog Hunters in the Tennessee Valley are crying foul over a bill in the state senate they say that could effect the way they spend their leasure time.
The bill is aimed at a practice called "Hog Dog Rodeo's."
It is a type of competition where hog hunting dogs are trained to round up wild hogs until hunters can arrive.
Animal rights groups pushing the bill say this is simply inhumane and compare hunters to child molesters.
Hunters we spoke to say with out the training, the wild hogs would kill their dogs, and that Activists wont be satisfied until all hunting is illegal.
Earlier this year a group of legislators called the sportsman's caucus introduced a bill that would protect all hunters in the state of Tennessee. |
