Sorry about that, he was still in #ga then and made it clear it was his decision. He took it on the chin from a lot of the OGs there on account of them being mssql users.
I was going to be doing PHP + Pg work in the near future, so I thought I 'd get a little utility out of writing this for free. Hosting was going to be on SB's box, so I wasn't worried about mobility to other hosting sites. Where I was working at the time also had hosting going so I could have just plugged my own machine in running Pg if need be.
I really wish I could do a better job communicating the greatness of some of these open source apps to the developers at my work. I know it's a tired issue out here on the internet, but in a professional environment it's tough to get past idiotic stuff like "oh I'm not sure about that program's credibility" (then a bunch of middle managers nod). Then when they're done deriding open source applications, they go back to their desks and use emacs to write code.
They dropped a million dollars on Oracle licensing and nothing else changes, what a waste.
