It just hit gog today. It's best described as 2D sonic the hedgehog mixed with the superior bosses of gunstar heroes. The plot is an odd mix of squeaky saturday morning cartoon mixed with shocking levels of violence (in context) from the alien bad guys, and it's completely skippable if you're not in the mood. Really great spritework and music!
I think it's better than Shovel Knight.
The one thing I would ding the game for is the designer's choice of Macromedia Fusion for the engine. It's just not up to rendering a game this fast at fullscreen without tons of tearing, so I was forced to play in a large window. That was a few months ago, so the gog version may have fixed this problem. |
