There's often this single media narrative. No conspiracy theory. It's just how journalism works; they release stories to the wire, and other local journalists would get it and literally copy it. One organizantion breaks a story, everybody copies them and sources them. Way it's always worked, except that way of doing things has certainly become archaic. Anyway, say, they have a narrative about Anonymous. "Anonymous has done another hack," "Anonymous at it again!" Everybody rolling their eyes on 4chan every time. It's the laziest possible narrative. Here we call them Mysterio, but over there anybody without a username is fucking Anonymous, which is fucking everybody since it's part of their board culture. "We are anonymous!" was a fucking joke, then a troll, then it may as well be true, hacker group anonymous.
What there are is Troll Groups, plenty of them. Some are hackers, others have other specialties. The Troll Groups do shit and only they themselves, or perhaps other Troll Groups know what really happened. It's all for the lulz, media caught that part of it at least. But I never read or heard any of them point out this is what's really going on. Blaming all of 4chan is easier than looking into a story, I guess.
Anyway, I think the feminists are being hit by troll groups, along with pissed off random gamers, and it must be overwhelming. But these troll groups are hitting the livestreamers on the pro side just as hard, like that one who had a nervous breakdown in Sargon's chat. So now they're going after Sargon next. Both sides are being whipped into a frenzy by trolls, and the media is being hit so hard so they're in a state on panic too.
Maybe I should have called them Troll Crews, lulz. |
