| GamerGate Launched in My Apartment, and, Internet, I’m sorry. (Not that sorry.)
When that post by Zoe Quinn's boyfriend was linked here, I read it and thought the guy was sort of a douchebag. Zoe Quinn seemed like a douchebag, too. Now, reading that, maybe they are douchebags, but they're very broken douchebags, and I feel sympathy for them. They both got caught up in something bigger than them, this has been brewing for a while. Both of them are going to be villains to some people for a long time. I dated girls like Zoe Quinn, and I'm certain she was molested as a child. These people need therapy. It was already happening, but this Gamergate thing marks the irrelevancy of traditional gaming media and the ascent of the livestreamer. We always knew the gaming press was corrupt. Hell I remember ten years ago, back when I posted on Quarter to Three and I was bitching at those fuckers all-expsense-paid junkets and some gaming writer replied to me that they weren't journalists, more "hobbyist writers." Holy crap that made my blood boil, but I had no response. He was just freely admitting how corrupt they were. Anyway, everybody already trusted Total Biscuit more than IGN before all this, but this marks the time when everybody deleted their links all at once. It's beautiful, really. Fuck them all they always sucked. Most Gamergaters ignored the post I linked, but that doesn't mean Zoe Quinn isn't being harassed by a few people still and she probably... isn't a very stable human being. I just hope she doesn't kill herself, honestly. |
