Finally finished this 5 years later! by fabio 10/21/2014, 11:56pm PDT Okay, Overture started out strong but after a while the sameness of caves + dogs gets old and you just want it to end. So i finally fired up Black Plague. Right away it seemed to fix all the rough parts of Overture. You're now in a research facility with actual environments! There's a story instead of just reading old miners' journals! Retrace the survivor's steps in a System Shock 2 atmosphere! No more awkward pipe swinging combat! So things are good for about an hour, then you run into the dumbest decision in a horror game I've ever seen. The mute main character picks up a split personality disembodied voice inside his head who WILL...NOT...SHUT...UP. You're trying to be scared exploring the place and the voice goes on unfunny comic relief rants about movies and how it wants to be called "Clarence" after the angel in It's a Wonderful Life. The first time a monster bursts through a door and starts chasing you should be pants-shitting, but Clarence is there to ruin it by cracking wise as you run. God what a bonehead way to ruin a promising game.
