| It's interesting to see the right-wing co-opt the angry gamer movement to score brownie points with a demographic that doesn't usually care for them. Sommers is just another paid token shill that stirs up controversy for her side. She exists to get into fights with people like Weinstein and must be thrilled someone's paying attention to her since it guarantees page hits to her articles and bigger speaker checks for a while.
At this point, I think this whole "GamerGate" is on a downswing unless some new smoking gun is found. What else is there to say? Indie reporting is based on having the right friends/fuckbuddies. Blogs have to keep pumping out articles to guarantee hits so the overexposure these games get is even worse. It's more harmful since the indie kids who aren't in the right clique won't get the exposure they desperately need. They'll pay to enter IGF and conventions and won't get jack shit for the efforts or money while FEZ won awards without even being done. |
