In one ending, Jason chooses to live out his days with Citra, where he - being the ultimate badass that he is - will continue to protect the island. Only Citra has other plans and decides to murder the oblivious bloke instead.

As it turns out, Citra never really needed to be saved and the whole thing is a commentary on the princess rescuing complex that permeates the medium. "Jason conjures up this whole idea that Citra needs saving and he's gonna save her, when in reality it was all a ritual she created to find a sperm donor, and she kills him," Yohalem explained.

“Sex, violence, and the player is killed. Here are the things that satisfy our animal side as men, but they're subverted because it's a female doing it." Yohalem likened the ending to Princess Peach stabbing Mario. “Now that I'm thinking about it, that final scene should have been Citra castrating Jason. Seriously, that's the point! It is like, 'You win, motherf*****!' It's totally like, 'F*** you, you misogynist idiot!'”

So is this guy pandering or retarded?

So the ending where Citra reveals she duped Jason by pretending to need help (a story that has never been told before or since) is commentary on princess rescuing, but right before that ending you have the option of saving your girlfriend who's helplessly tied up and about to be killed to get the good ending. Ok, I guess.

Also, to get the bad ending you literally have to press B to slit your girlfriend's throat. Then you're treated to a lengthy cutscene of a hot naked woman riding you, giant tits all up in your monitor, before she stabs you right after orgasm. Suck it, misogynists! You got to act out your girlfriend murdering fantasy and then die having sex!

Also, the good ending is bizarrely inconsistent with the bad ending. Citra begs you to stay on the island with her, a guy in blogging glasses tries to stab you for not checking your privileged ability to leave, but Citra steps in his way and takes the knife. She dies in your arms unironically saying she loves you. Moral: save the girl, and even the woman planning to kill you when you've outlived your usefulness will sacrifice her own life for you and declare her love with her final breath.
