Forum Overview :: Retrobooster

Let me expound on this opinion. by Moonrogue 07/22/2014, 4:14am PDT
There are two (and only two!) differences in gameplay between the two:

Wait, three:

Wait, four:

1. Gravity is less of a factor in Retrobooster. It's still there (on most levels SPOIELSRRSSS??) but in G2 it was the ENEMY, and in Retrobooster it's just kinda there as a reminder that physics.

2. RB goes a little Newtonian: When you shoot bullets, you get pushed backward.

3. No fuel.

But here's the biggie, and it's the thing that makes RB better:

4. You can reverse-thrust. That's right, you can face the ground, be shootin' aliens, and then reverse-thrust to counteract gravity. Leads to some really beautiful SHIP-DANCIN', which is the best part of these games.
