Surprisingly not bad. I haven't seen the first two Xmen movies since they came out. Maybe they haven't aged well? This might be the best one then.

Someday they'll make an Xmen movie where Professor X's powers aren't out of commission for most of the time.

Wasn't Blink just a teleporter like nightcrawler? Now she has the power of emulating the hit game Portal!

+ They finally get around to doing the sentinels, the embodiment of the entire goddamn point of the Xmen. The sentinel story should have been done during the last presidential administration, not Wolverine origin stories, Hellfire club, or the convoluted Dark Phoenix crap.

+ Future sentinels are cooler than anything the comics or cartoon came up with.

+ Some pretty damn brutal deaths for PG-13.

+ Erasing everything that happened in X3

- Way too much time spent on getting Xavier to kicking his heroine habit and start caring again. It's like watching Dark Knight Returns all over again.

- Super inconsistent 70s technology. They make a ton of jokes about only 3 TV channels and old recording equipment, then Peter Dinklage carries around portable flatscreen HD monitors and the hi tech mansion basement is exactly the same?

- McKellen and Stewart are hardly in it.

Plot hole spoilers
The existence of mutants comes as a total surprise to the government and military, despite this being a sequel to First Class where the CIA had an official mutant branch, and the military having captured Magneto after building a special plastic prison for him (inside the Pentagon kitchen???).

Magneto magically being able to know where everything and everyone was going to be. It made sense when Mystique was spying for him, but she doesn't this movie.

Mystique's DNA being the key to creating the unstoppable future sentinels. Magneto figures the best bet is to kill her as soon as they find her in the middle of the Paris peace accords. Was he planning on dragging the body back? "Oops they took samples of her blood guess that was all for nothing." Why not wait until they're long gone then do her in and dump her in a hole?

Since when could Shadowcat send people back in time?

She had to maintain the connection with Wolverine the whole time, warned him against trauma causing his present body to freak out, everyone there KNEW what happens when Wolverine goes nuts, and no one thought to restrain his arms beforehand?

They only have so much time before the sentinels find them and have to maintain the time travel connection with Wolverine until then. Hey, assholes, why not do the time travel thing on board your mobile stealth jet instead of a fixed location? It's cool, we only decided to light up a bunch of giant braziers to act as beacons in the middle of this dark future wasteland. They're so atmospheric!
