The game is decent, and the connections to random people work ok even if PvP is kind of all over the map for diverse reasons. However, Soul Memory introduced a number of new problems, since the game was no longer dictating Multiplayer by soul level. This was presumably to avoid the geared-up low-level player rampaging all over people that were just starting out. Instead, they got rid of one of the more compelling elements, which was optimizing your soul level towards a particular build, in favor of spending levels any way on anything because only the total number of souls you've ever come across, spent or lost in death, matters. And it was thought that connections were dictated by a percentage range from the summoner/invadees Soul Memory.
Turns out that's not the case, and this guy did the math and the work to prove it's divided in tiers.. Soul Memory still keeps me from rushing into the PC version since you still can't keep "universal" characters for a particular range of coop and PvP, but at least it points to the long-term viability of PvP characters and gives you an exact idea of how to set up the game with friends. |
