| Like his redesigns of the X-Men or DC characters and so on. He doesn't do "alternative" takes on them for fun, it was just another side project for him to make up stuff to potentially sell to his idiot fans and have them reblog it on tumblr about a jillion times; while reinforcing the idea that all of his concepts and designs are better and smarter and more well-thought out than anything anyone else has thought up ever.
In his redesign of the X-Men he dismissed the whole "the next step in human evolution" as hokey pseudoscience, which it is, but then went on to say his take was far more realistic, so therefore it was better. Except his idea was the 2000's variant of hokey sci-fi pseudoscience instead of what was around in the 1960s. There was no real difference except him going "My bullshit explanation as to why a guy can fire zap-rays out of his eyes is better because it's all about trendy nanomachines/alien DNA instead of radiation or whatever." Plus Diaz's Prof. X is basically a smug "rationalist" who only pretends to be wheelchair bound in order to seem more sympathetic. And his big ideas boil down to "a bunch of smug internet douches fight Inspector Gadget robots" 
His DC redesigns are pretty awful too, here's Moss from the IT Crowd as a hipster who had an Apple store throw up on him 
Green Lantern as a perky half-Asian who activates her powers by thrusting her rack 
Superman is an alien shapeshifter who is also more of a nerd to Diaz's liking and his greatest nemesis would be a tiny thousands year old black woman with superstrength 
Not to mention his ideas for redoing The Legend of Zelda, only with gender swaps and some sort of steampunk transhumanism. All of these points to Diaz being more of an Idea Man than an actual creator, he's "great" at coming up with "ideas" but actually executing them is a lot of work, besides why do that when you can just post your "pretty" pictures and coast on the praise of clueless "fans"? |
