Super agile giant robots, wow that's something new! I actually want to play the game they talk about where the mechs lumber around. There has never been such a game. What the fuck are they talking about? Their mechs will move faster than the ones in Hawken?
In the old Mechwarrior games, they were supposed to be giant robots, and you could almost think they were, but they always felt like guys in 6 ft tall metal suits running around dollhouses. If a mech was on fire, the fire didn't look like the fire coming out of a two-story building, but the flames you'd see in your fireplace. Smoke wouldn't billow from mechs slowly like the smoke you see from a smoke stack, but like the smoke you'd see if you burned a cardboard box in the backyard. If you installed a shotgun-type weapon on your mech, it didn't sound like a giant weapon with a twenty-foot wide barrel... it sounded like the shotgun from Doom.
There were never any games where the mechs behaved the way these developers describe them, mechs always behave the way they're doing them, because these developers and all the others are creatively bankrupt and every shooter has to play exactly like every other shooter and none of them could even begin to imagine anything different.
Now that I think of it, Battlezone II got the feel of mechs right, but they sucked because the game was about the fast little tanks.
