Just a couple more things, since I have a feeling you're close to or already done with this cheesy little game....
What attracted to me to this game on Steam, besides the sale price, was where it called itself a simulation. A zombie simulation, huh? I liked the idea of a zombie simulator in GTA, and wanted to see it for a couple bucks.
It's a pretty good simulation, though. I figured out the rules to them, mostly. You know how that zombie horde showed up just as you were finishing up defending the hillbillies? Totally your fault. You came into that mission like it was grand theft auto, didn't you? Probably driving 70 mph up that dirt road, expecting to hit a GLOWEY and change the gamestate into the new mission gamestate, right? but this gameworld doesn't reset when you start a mission like that. Start a mission, the game will artificially throw MOBs at you, sure, but it doesn't forget about all the hordes you attracted on the way. A horde will follow you for miles. The Main Game state is never forgotten, unlike in Grand Theft Autos. It's a subtle thing, but I wouldn't doubt that horde followed your ass from twenty minutes ago. In this game: possible, anyway.
So you have individual zombies wandering, they can spawn anywhere, actually, just like System Shock, but not really. One zombie ain't shit. If you fully explore a building, it creates a temporary zone, and no zombies may spawn within the bubble it shows on the map. Mostly, though, zombies don't spawn too much this way, anyway. When they do they're like a minor distraction, if that. Buildings get designated as having Infestations, and when this happens, they spawn the zombies. That's where the shit goes down. Then if enough zombies are in an area, a horde forms. It's actually kind of slow and hard for this to all happen, even with many infestations. To keep it challenging, once a day the game (at least in Breakdown) cheats and spawns a bunch hordes. But for the most part the hordes have a predictability to them. If a lot of hordes are overrunning the map, you can hold it back by clearing out infestations.
This really is a game about controlling a spawn. To do this, you'll need resources, of course.
And whenever you kick somebody, unless you have nimble or something, hold shift. It's all about the kung-fu, bitches.
