Thanks for the run-down. Waiting for the price drop sounds like the best course of action, although it doesn't sound like I'll regret it too much if I'm too weak to wait. I'm pleased that they realized that half of the new shit they put into 4 was horrible because God, fucking duels (also Jesus Christ, Koei, I don't want to spend three missions fighting the Yellow Turbans). And I agree; once you've played one of these games, you really just need to play any new one for as long as it takes to pinpoint the differences.
