Not like it had the individual flair of the various heroes and quests and all that crap, or the political ramifications. Still, fun game in its day.
Endgame combat in King Arthur was pretty slick for me, after doing some artifact collecting I went full fey and was having fun teleporting around the map annihilating entire armies and trying not to lose a single guy doing it. Should've been a reward for being unstoppable while drowning the enemy in their own blood 'cause of how fun it was, nothin but lightning and 'attack ten guys at once' cleave skills and all that.
King Arthur is one of very few games where the power creep worked out to pose a vaguely interesting challenge for me because of how entertaining steamrolling can get in that game. They could have changed the powers around a bit so everyone had their mana replenish to keep battles vaguely more exciting, and the AI could have been written MUCH better for field combat, but it still did a lot better than plenty of games. |
