I have enjoyed the disconnect in the minds of idiots between violence and other PROBLEMATIC things video games do. Spending four hours a night shooting other people in Halo has absolutely no effect on whether or not you'll react with violence in real life, but failing to let the female models in a character editor look ugly is the greatest tool of the patriarchy in recorded history.

The same with the Twitter stuff.

All of these crybabies WILL get their way, and you'll be able to leverage your followers to get death threaters shut down. It's going to happen. It will totally just be used for people posting death threats, too, by the way and definitely won't be used by people with 12,000 followers to get someone with 50 deleted. I've been banned on imgur four times by saying that Harry Potter is for babies. Someone with a large arbitrary number in "karma" cat-assed to the Imgur admins, and they ban the guy with the unpopular opinion. Any one of the shrieking infants that has been featured on Caltrops over the last year wouldn't think twice about getting other accounts deleted for non death-threat and hate speech stuff, and they would justify it by saying, eh, they only had 60 followers. Who cares.

Take a look at accounts posting unpopular opinions like Wittgenstein and Creexul. I'm sure the guy running Polygon and Kate Leth would love the opportunity to get their accounts turned off. It will happen. A month before Twitter announces an IPO they'll magically have a functioning "report this Tweeter" button. The same kind of people incapable of protecting their account, turning off email alerts, blocking people or maybe just using a list they made to read tweets instead of the default view will rejoice. They can finally shut people up who disagree with them and are rude about it. Oh, and in doing this, no woman or game developer will ever get insulted or threatened again in Internet history, the same dumb kids are incapable of finding a different way.
