I think something was lost in translation.
Tabletop Shadowrun always required at minimum, 3-4 roles.
1. The Bruiser. A Street Samurai, Physical Adept, or other archetype whose main job was shit-kicking.
2. The Hacker.
3. The Mage. (could be switched with hacker depending upon whether the campaign was heavily magic or heavily tech)
4. The Getaway Driver.
#4 is pretty much missing from the game. There may be a possibility for story roll-checks to salvage it for drone riggers but there's no way it can be part of the core experience. And #2/#3 is pretty much pointless as well. There's only rooms for asskickers in these campaigns to fill things full of holes faster. In good Shadowrun campaigns, the more interesting parts were where fast talking or smarts were necessary more than gunplay, but there's no room for that kind of subtlety in most game series. |
