Can someone explain the appeal of Pixeljunk: Monsters? by Mischief Maker 10/09/2013, 3:46pm PDT
Goddamn I've been on a losing streak with GOG purchases lately. But in this title's case it's not my fault. Every single review I've read has been a slobbery blowjob. Not a single negative review! Why???

What can I be missing? To me it's a by-the-numbers tower defense game (set path style) with the standard allotment of generic tower types. The graphics and sound are blah. And it's painfully slow. I suppose the unforgiving puzzle nature of the stages is a draw, but the overall slow pace of the game makes it maddening, as you won't pay for a mistake until 15 minutes of gameplay has passed, and there are no mid-mission checkpoints ala. defense grid.

Unanimously positive reviews! I haven't seen reviews like this since (name nintendo franchise game). Is it the 2 player co-op? It's the 2 player co-op, isn't it?
