I'm not sure why everyone bitched about the stage battles. Did they seriously want more hack & slash levels in their place? Anything not a stage battle was just a glorified tutorial for stage battles.

Jokes were fine. Setting was great. Soundtrack unbelievable. But it just might have the most needlessly complicated story of any Tim Schafer heavy metal parody fantasy world ever made. Something about multiple mistaken identities and double time loops. 80% of the plot explanation is told by text, and that's IF you find all the hidden monuments in the correct order.

They obviously didn't have time to finish the campaign. It skips straight from the end of act 2 to the final boss.

The RTS portion desperately needed more situational awareness. No unit icons. No mini-map. Giving orders to individual units was clunky (and extremely necessary). Tying the rally commands to guitar solos was a terrible idea. You should be having fun in the thick of the fighting but over half your time is spent flying around flying around fiddling with the clunky individual unit command and playing the fan/rally/flag solos over and over and over.
