| Come the fuck on, one or two levels of dependency? I can't go back to that shit after Dwarf Fortress, and I don't even LIKE Dwarf Fortress. Okay, in Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, I need to smelt bronze in one facility to make weapons in another - two levels in the production pyramid, one manufacturing facility and resource per level. There's some shops that require a couple different materials to make one thing, so two resources, but that makes the final good. Whole thing comes out fucking simplistic and I'm asleep before I get past the second tutorial, and then there's the part where they introduce this production chain at the rate of one to three new building types per city.
Can you recommend better? Settlers series, maybe, but it has shit linking systems. I'm seriously thinking of knocking something together in terms of the Victoria series, but I keep losing the thread of how to actually affect anything because they don't write anything in the way of good documentation. If you have ideas we could even talk about it, since I probably don't bear the same hatred for you that the locals do. |
