Devil May Cry 3 vs. God of War

(Minor Spoilers)

Okay, for some reason Cltarpos only renders tables in invisible text. Using your special Ovaltine decoder ring and encyclopedia brown magnifying glass, highlight below to discover the hidden comparison!

Devil May Cry 3God of War
Over the top actionOver the top action with platforming and puzzles
5 melee weapons2 melee weapons
Guns with unlimited ammoMagic of the Gods with limited MP
Load times so long they included a minigame to keep you occupiedPractically no load time
Less moves per weapon, but more fine control over themMore moves, but some only execute following a sequence or guard-break
You can't use moves from different styles at the same timeAll your moves are available
Combos are ranked based on number of hits and variety of moves usedCombos are ranked on number of hits alone
Hit enemies with normal attacks until they dieWeakened enemies give you the option of using fatalities
Enemies use tell-tale battle cries to compensate for the camera anglesCamera is almost never a problem in battle scenes
Puzles are pretty much all key-huntsEvery puzzle element from POP:SOT except wallrunning
Majority of enemies are made of/bleed sandEven skeletal wraiths goosh blood
Most enemies just disappointingly shatter when they dieIncredibly satisfying gory deaths for every enemy (except Satyrs)
A huge ensamble of varied bosses3 bosses
Crunchy graphics speckled with beautiful lighting effectsGorgeous graphics on par with Ninja Gaiden
Small Claustrophobic roomsHuge epic vistas
One Jump PuzzleSeveral Instadeath Jump Puzzles
Tongue-in-cheek goth themeSerious Sword-and-Sandal theme
Fantastic motion captured matrix-esque/parody cutscenesGorgeous but utilitarian cutscenes
Goes more for the "cool" feelGoes more for the "epic" feel
Most of the cinematic feel limited to the cutscenesGameplay is more epic and cinematic than the cutscenes
Kick-to-the-Groin difficult from level 1Gives you an exciting tutorial level before racking up the hardness
You're given a skill ranking after each levelNo rankings, no delineated levels
You can replay any finished level with weapons and moves from later in the gameYou can only start over from square one
Higher difficulty means more aggressive enemiesHigher difficulty means enemies do more damage (I think. Correct me if I'm wrong)
You can use an electric guitar to ROCK YOUR ENEMIES TO DEATH!You use flaming chain-swords to RIP YOUR ENEMIES TO SHREDS!

The unlockables for both games are extra costumes and behind-the-scenes galleries and videos. If you're completely allergic to jump puzzles and want a game you can squeeze months out of, get DMC3. Otherwise get GOW. It's the Half-Life of its genre (in both the good and the bad ways, but with a great final battle.)

I also find it amusing that while DMC3 barely has any puzzles and takes place in the 80s while GOW is puzzle-intensive and takes place in ancient greece, DMC3 is the one that features the riddle of the sphynx.
