On its morning and noon news, WRC-TV covered an event that appeared on their station 55 years ago today, May 22, 1958.
A typical black-and white broadcast in which a man at a podium announced that "With this switch, I now present this program," he pushes the button, and the video changes, "in color," as it does so. This became the first television station to go to color broadcasting. We got to see him, the studio, and the featured guests in color, including President Eisenhower.
