It could take a very, very long time for people to learn to automate stuff if we don't intervene somehow. Another thing that changed my mind was that everybody - at least for the moment - just rapturously loves the business-readable test format. The biz types love seeing them at demos, and the devs love the sessions where the testers and devs knock out the tests together, and everybody likes the transparency. As an org we support 5 different platforms, too (if you count web as a platform) so it's nice to be able to have everybody in QA communicate the nature of the automated tests in a common format. Assuming we can learn to fill in the steps in all the different languages. o_O I have a feeling I'm going to read this post in a year and laugh at my own naivete. I'm trying to be positive! |
