Argo won the best picture of the year award! It was an ably told story which was kind of interesting. BEST PICTURE!!!!
I don't know what's wrong with people anymore. I think TV has gotten good enough where people think, "hey, this was a good episode of a TV show", that it automatically makes it a good movie.
Argo is an okay movie. It tells an interesting story, and nobody in it is overtly terrible.
BEST PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think maybe it's me (or in this case, my wife and I). If this is what passes for the best movie of the year, while garnering the best aggregate MRQE score of the year, well. I dunno. It's not a bad movie. It's instantly forgettable, and features no noticeable signs of filmmaking artistry.
I know I'm a PTA fanboy, but hopefully even the hatingest among you must be able to see a qualitative difference between a movie like this and "The Master", which wasn't even nominated.
I don't get it. Movies are about more than relaying the events of an occurrence. Or at least I thought they were.
Three stars? Maybe?
